Who we are
This notice explains how Lit Neon handles personal information when you use this website, design a sign, send us artwork or buy from us. For UK data protection law we are the controller of the information described here.
Questions about this notice or your information can go through our contact form, which always reaches us.
What we collect
- Your design, in your browser. The words, lettering, colours and options you choose are saved in your own browser (local storage) so you never lose a design. They stay on your device unless you add them to an order, share a link or ask us to email them.
- Your email address, if you ask us to email you a design, your quiz picks or a reply.
- Files you upload for a mockup or a bulk quote: logos, sketches or photos, plus the details you type into the form.
- Order details when you buy: your name, delivery address, email, phone number if you give one, what you ordered and your order history. Payments are handled by our payment providers; we never see or store your full card number.
- Messages you send us through the contact form, email or WhatsApp.
- Wall photos you use with “See it on your wall” stay on your device. They are never uploaded unless you choose to include one in a shared preview.
- Analytics, only if you switch it on in cookie settings: which pages are visited and which buttons are used, without your name or email.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Make, deliver and support your order, including the proof drawing and any warranty claim | Contract |
| Prepare a mockup or quote you asked for | Steps you asked us to take before a contract |
| Answer your messages | Legitimate interests (helping you) |
| Keep order and invoice records | Legal obligation |
| Email you a design or quiz picks you asked for | Consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Analytics to see which pages help | Consent, through cookie settings |
| Marketing emails, if we ever send them | Consent only; we will never assume it |
Who we share it with
We share only what each service needs to do its job for us:
- our online shop platform and payment providers, to take and process your order;
- delivery companies, who need your name, address and sometimes a phone number to deliver your sign;
- our form and email services, which carry your messages and uploads to us;
- review platforms, if we invite you to leave a review after delivery.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK law requires, such as adequacy regulations or the UK’s international data transfer agreement. We never sell your information, and we never share it for anyone else’s marketing.
How long we keep it
- Order and invoice records: for as long as the law requires us to keep business records, then deleted.
- Artwork and mockup files: for as long as you might reorder or claim under your warranty, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Messages and quote requests that don’t lead to an order: up to two years, then deleted.
- Designs saved in your browser: until you clear your browser’s storage. We can’t see or delete them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything that’s wrong;
- delete your information, where we don’t need to keep it;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- move it to another provider, where that applies;
- stop any processing based on your consent, at any time.
Ask through our contact form. We’ll reply within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we’d appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Cookies and browser storage
We use your browser’s storage to keep your design, basket and settings, and only use analytics if you agree. The cookies page lists everything we store and lets you change your choice at any time.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your information, we’ll update this page and, for significant changes, tell you before they apply.
